The administrative and territorial system of the Republic of Kazakhstan consists of 14 regions and 2 Republican cities, 175 administrative districts, 84 cities, 35 villages and 7,031 rural settlements.

The Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan and Mangistau regions are located in the west of the republic.
The Akmola, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and Kostanai regions are located in the north.
The Almaty, South Kazakhstan, Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions are situated in the south. The East Kazakhstan region is situated in the east of the republic. The central part of the republic’s territory is occupied with the largest region, the Karaganda region.
