All four semifinalists of the 2012 World Bandy Championship were known one round before the end of the group stage. However, the exact fixtures were defined as a result of the last round. First, Kazakhstan and Finland will meet to compete for the bronze medals of the tournament. This type of match can already be called classic at the world bandy championships. It is often Kazakhstan and Finland that compete for bronze medals at world events. So far in the history of this rivalry, Finland holds the advantage in terms of victories. However, Thursday’s match at the Medeu ice skating rink didn’t have any significance in the final outcome of the tournament. Supported by local fans, Kazakhstan had no problems beating Finland. After the first half of the match, the hosts had an impressive advantage leading the score 5:1. In the second half, Aleksei Nikishov’s trainees did their best to demolish Finland with an easy 10:4 victory. Kazakhstan’s Yevgeniy Shadrin scored a brace while his teammates Andrei Morokov, Vyacheslav Markin, Alexander Nasonov, Leonid Bedarev, Vyacheslav Bronnikov, Iskander Nugmanov, Sergei Pochkunov and Rauan Isaliyev, all scored one goal each against Finland.
