Kapshagai Lake hosts 2012 Ice Fishing World Championship
The Kapshagai Lake, situated in the Almaty region, started the 2012 Ice Fishing World Championship. The spoon bait fishing competition involves 11 teams from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, USA, Sweden, and the Baltic countries. While official training sessions are being underway, participants in the tournament are learning the Blue Bay and are finding out the behavior of the half-asleep fish in such a cold season. The first competition day is to be on Thursday. The national team of Kazakhstan is made up of anglers from Pavlodar, Semei, and Almaty squads.
