More people return to Kazakhstan from Europe

Financial problems are forcing European companies to reduce their costs especially by means of staff reduction. A few corporations have already announced upcoming layoffs. Thousands of people will get their names registered at the labour exchange in the near future. Meanwhile, some of those, who went abroad with the hope for the best, are coming back in Kazakhstan. It turned out that everything in Kazakhstan is much more stable and there are more opportunities to start your own business and for self-realization. Robert Schumacher is one of those, who left Kazakhstan in the 90s seemingly forever.

Robert Schumacher, President, KazGerStroi
«I arrived in Astana and was taken on a tour around the city. I was, of course, amazed at the scope of everything that was done and especially the fact that there was a need for road workers. I gained a great experience abroad by going through all these stages there. So, I was persuaded by my friends saying let's start something new here. So, this is how the idea of creating a new venture appeared. The scope of Kazakhstan’s development really makes the country as the most advanced state in the CIS, which has reached such a high pace of development. As you can see, we are now building new industrial parks. The one in Astana is a huge industrial park occupying the total area of more than 600 hectares. We are now finishing a huge park in Karaganda. We are building a new company. It requires you to be a little patient and work hard.»

Olga also has no regrets about her comeback to her homeland. She lived in Germany for 10 years. She found it difficult to find a job. She worked as a factory worker. After returning to Astana, she found the job of a stylist at an expensive beauty salon.

Olga Pustovitova
«I can see now that there is a crisis in Europe and it is difficult to find a job. Looking at our beauty salon, I can see that we always have clients and a stable income. People always visit such salons.»

Officials at the Kazakh Migration Police noted that in recent years the number of returnees in Kazakhstan has been growing rapidly. At the time, while the financiers are thinking about how cover the debt hole of Europe, ordinary people increasingly recall the good old saying «there is no place like home».
