Kazakh National Academy of Arts finds new partners in UK

The Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts is expanding international cooperation. In London, the Kazakh delegation signed an agreement with Ravensbourne College, which is one of Britain’s leading universities in arts, television, fashion, and design.

Robin Baker, Director and CEO of Ravensbourne College said that they signed an agreement of intent with a strategic plan of cooperation and would like to establish student exchanges, joint training programs, projects, and provide scholarships. He thinks that the partnership will be mutually beneficial and fruitful.

According to the college’s director, for example, the equipment of its television faculty is as good, and in some aspects even better than that of the BBC level, and its partners or future employers can even make Cambridge or Oxford jealous. Ravensbourne’s students can work on real projects of global companies already during their studies. According to the Zhurgenov Academy, their friends from Eurospeak College helped them find such a great partner.

According to Udit Khanna, Director of Eurospeak Ltd, Eurospeak is a college that specializes in teaching English and last year, they provided several grants to students of the Zhurgenov Academy, who underwent training in the UK. In addition, Eurospeak teachers traveled to Almaty with their training programs. The college sees great potential in its relations with Kazakhstan as the country has a very substantial state support for arts and education.

The first contact of the Zhurgenov Academy with its British partners started with the «Macbeth» play which they performed in London last year. It was a very significant event for both parties, since the production has become the first ever performance of Kazakh artists in London. The British critics and media received their debut well, giving the Kazakh actors credit for their courage to play «Macbeth» in the homeland of its creator, as well as the original performance in both English and Kazakh languages.
