According to the head of the Kazakhstan Travel Association Rashida Shaikenova last summer domestic tourism increased substantially.
Domestic tourism in Kazakhstan is increasing. Participants of the market said that during one year, the number in Kazakhstan who enjoy Kazakhstan resorts increased by 5%. This trend occurred because of an increase in demand for weekend holidays and a more civilized approach to leisure.

“In his address, the president talked about the priority of tourism. Today, we possess information about the allocation of large amounts of money from the state budget for the development of rural areas, which will create jobs and develop travel services.”

However, the association reports that Turkey, Thailand, Egypt and the countries of Eastern Europe still appeal to Kazakhstan tourists the most.

“2011 was quite a difficult year, the year after the crisis. But we are witnessing a stabilization of the situation. We are opening new travel routes. As usual, foreign tourism is developing very fast. Incoming tourism is developing more slowly.”

Experts believe that this year, competition between travel companies will increase.
