Kazakh and Russian postal services to brisk up e-commerce

National postal services of Russia and Kazakhstan are planning to increase online commerce. According to both sides, the countries have all the necessary conditions for this.

Electronic commerce will be given a new impetus for development. KazPost and Russian Post intend to attract a wide audience even from rural areas in online commerce within the framework of the Common Economic Space.

Yermek Primbetov, First Deputy Chairman, KazPost JSC:
- The main objective of the postal service is to increase volumes and the purpose of online stores is to increase sales. The final objective is to ensure that every citizen of our country has the opportunity to order and receive any product through the Internet.

Saule Yegemberdiyeva, Director, Postal Technologies Department, KazPost JSC:
- This applies to all goods that are in some way across the territories of our countries, whether it’s from Russia to Kazakhstan, or vice versa. And this is quite attractive for development, including distance selling in the market of Kazakhstan.

E-commerce is a new market segment for our country, which includes online stores and payment systems. With the development of a global network, remote sales are becoming one of the fastest growing areas of world trade.

Vyacheslav Avdyukov, Head, Financial Services Directorate, Russian Post FSUE:
- I think in this case e-commerce will be very attractive when Kazpost implements such an interesting product as cash on delivery from overseas. As, today, when you buy goods abroad with your card you still run the risk as your money is withdrawn immediately. The product takes some time to arrive. And, of course, you are concerned, like any other consumer, that the product won’t be delivered, your money will be lost and how to refund it.

Within the framework of the Common Customs Space, KazPost together with the National Association of Distance Selling of Russia is working to attract foreign companies engaged in distance selling on the market of Kazakhstan and at the same time developing its cooperation with domestic partners to ensure free access of goods to the population of rural areas.
