Advertising market of Kazakhstan: trends of growth

Today in Kazakhstan advertisement is the full-fledged participant of market relations and part of the world advertising industry. The competition between the participants of the advertising business is the proof of the successful development of commercials as an industry.
Foreign experts have noted that the future of the advertising market in Kazakhstan is quite positive and there are a number of prerequisites, which favoured it. In particular, today Kazakhstan is rated third among the CIS countries by the amount of commercials. The country is second only to Russia and Ukraine. Over a ten-year period from 1997 to 2007, the country’s advertising market grew by almost 33 times, from 25 million US dollars to 828 million US dollars. Experts noted that during the crisis the PR activity has dropped, the amount of money transactions have decreased and several advertising agencies closed down.

«Next year will be the strongest one at the European market. I would like Kazakhstan to be known both for its oil and the capacities to produce creative product.»

After studying the Kazakh advertising market, experts came to a conclusion that television is one of the top priority sources of releasing information. Television advertisements are first in the league table, followed by newspaper, magazine and outdoor ads. Less positive is the fact that Kazakh advertisements are made according to a conventional set of templates, with professional designers rarely offering anything new.

Marina Fateyeva, Managing Director, GFORCE Advertising Agency
«We are facing the competition, because market has eliminated poorly-performing agencies. They had some clients but today people know that they should place their stake on creativity. If the quality of commercials is poor, the financial input is wasted but if the commercial is excellent, your money can play very important role in business. So this year all clients are focusing on the creativity and I believe that it will be a boom.»

Experts say that in the next two years there will be a qualitative change and Kazakhstan commercials will become distinguishable and memorable.
